The Embassy works with the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (DGIE) in capturing biometrics for new e-Passport applicants as well as the distribution of passports after production. 

All passport applications are completed and submitted online through the Irembo Portal only. Please follow this link to start your application.

Passport application process in details:

• Rwandan Identity card (Indangamuntu) is a prerequisite to applying for the ePassport
• Submit a completed passport application form and pay the fee directly at www.irembo.gov.rw
• Once your passport has been approved by the DGIE, reach out to the Embassy to schedule a biometrics appointment

How to schedule your biometrics appointment:

• Write us at ambatelaviv@minaffet.gov.rw and provide your Rwandan national ID (Indangamuntu) number and passport approval confirmation from DGIE

What to bring with you to your biometrics appointment:

• Rwandan national ID (Indangamuntu)
• Embassy appointment confirmation
• Prepaid, self-addressed, traceable return envelope. These can be found at any of your nearest post services office
